Gleaners Breakfast and Volunteering | J.C. Hart

On March 14, J.C. Hart Associates took
advantage of using their company-sponsored volunteer PTO hours at Gleaners
Food Bank in Indianapolis, serving more than 1,150 families during their 4-hour
shift that day. The Associates helped to package sweet potatoes in family
serving bags, as well as load the allotted fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat
items into the vehicles of those accessing the drive-through food bank.
Gleaners drive-through food bank is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays (10 AM – 3
PM), Thursdays (2 PM – 7 PM), and Saturdays (9 AM – 12 NOON), so the need for
volunteers is great, and constant. Our volunteers were all pretty tired at the
end of their shift, and could see the immediate impact of their time spent at
Gleaners, which made their exhaustion feel very worth it.
J.C.
Hart Associates who served on the Volunteer Opportunities Team also had the
pleasure of attending Gleaners Food for Thought breakfast on Wednesday, May 1, sponsored by and held at the
Indianapolis Colts Indiana Farm Bureau football center. Gleaners President and CEO, Fred Glass, delivered a
keynote, and then guests heard from an incredible panel on the power of
collaboration.
The
panelists were: Darilyn Bedel, President of Rush County Community Assistance;
Tony Mason, President and CEO of Indianapolis Urban League; Deanna Reinoso,
Medical Director, Social Determinants of Health at Eskenazi Health; and
Jennifer Vigran, Consultant at Glick Philanthropies.
J.C.
Hart is proud to support Gleaners Food Bank and the work they do in “battling
poverty armed with food.”
