Company Experience
Charlie Kurtz joined J.C. Hart Company in August 2001 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and serves on the Executive Committee. He was named Sr. Vice President in 2015. He was responsible for the financial, administrative, and information systems functions for J.C. Hart Company for over 16 years. During that time, Charlie was instrumental in placing over $350,000,000 in debt, both in the permanent market and construction loans, for J.C. Hart and its related partnerships. In 2017, Charlie was recognized by his peers and the Indianapolis Business Journal as a finalist for CFO of the year.Due to J.C. Hart’s strategic plan for continued growth, a reorganization of Executive responsibilities took place in 2018. Charlie’s strong leadership capabilities and desire to lead J.C. Hart’ largest division put him in the perfect position to lead the Property & Asset Management division. In 2021, he was named Chief Executive Officer.
Professional Accomplishments
In 1992, Charlie began his career as Assistant Controller with Edwards Electrical & Mechanical and was promoted to Controller six months later. In 1994, Charlie joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, formerly Coopers & Lybrand, as a Tax Associate in which he served clients in the manufacturing, retail, real estate and financial services industries. Charlie was promoted to Manager in the Middle Market Advisory Services group in 1999. Prior to joining J.C. Hart Company, Inc., Charlie served as the Manager of Financial Reporting and Taxes with Fairfield Manufacturing Company, Inc. in Lafayette, Indiana.
Education
Charlie is a 1992 graduate of Marian College in Indianapolis, IN where he doubled majored in Accounting and Finance and graduated with Honors. In May 2000, Charlie earned an MBA from Butler University with a concentration in Finance with Honors.
Community Contributions
Charlie is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and has served in his local community by coaching various youth sports and supporting philanthropic endeavors that benefit youth.
